In 1960, Augusto N. Wiese Eslava built the Wiese Foundation and this year 2020 the institution celebrates 60 years from its creation in the context of a sanitary crisis that has hit all of us. However, the Foundation has not stopped its purpose, which is to strive in order that better citizens may forge the Peru of the future. That is why we continue with our programs, thus providing support to the most vulnerable persons, including during the pandemic.
Humanitarian Aid Program
As part of the Foundation’s Humanitarian Aid Program, we conducted various campaigns aimed at reaching the poor and extremely poor families of the north and south areas of Lima. These were some of the actions conducted:
Screening tests
So far, this year, Wiese Foundation has conducted 2,250 COVID-19 screening tests.

Donation of mechanical ventilators and medical instruments
As part of the support provided to the population and to the healthcare system, we also contributed with the donation of mechanical ventilators and medical instruments, as well as with protection equipments. Among the latter, we gave more than 8,125 PPEs and 20,000 N95 facemasks to physicians and healthcare personnel, in order to reduce the risk of contagion in the performance of their duty.

Medical care and medicines
Trained medical and technical personnel provided medical evaluation and consultation services, as well as the prescription and delivery of medicines. We also conducted tele-consultations for the monitoring of positive coronavirus cases.

Donation of groceries baskets and bonuses
We donated 132 groceries baskets in alliance with the Casitas del Arcoíris Foundation. We also granted S/100 bonuses to vulnerable families and another S/100 bonus for groceries to 500 families benefiting from the Llama Pack project in Cuzco.

Educational Quality Program
Wiese Foundation, aware of the new situation in which teachers and pupils were living because of the social isolation, developed a series of projects and collaborations in order to help them overcome this moment. Thus, for example:
Collaboration with the Aprendo en Casa (I learn at home) program
As part of our Educational Quality Program, we collaborated with MINEDU (Ministry of Education) in an edition of the “Aprendo en Casa” (“I Learn at Home”) program. This was possible with the help with our teacher specialists and coaches.

We created three series of educational videos
We broadcast videos offering emotional support to teachers nationwide. Among the series created by the Foundation, there are: “Family: Safe Environments”, “Growing among teachers” and “Educational dialogs”.

Personalized support to teachers and managers of public schools
The Foundation provided personalized accompaniment to 100 teachers and managers of public schools, helping them to continue performing their functions, thus reaching the homes of their pupils.

El Brujo Archaeological Program
Finally, it is also important to point out that, this year, in spite of the pandemic, started the execution of the first works-for-taxes project of the culture sector at the El Brujo Archaeological Complex. But this has not been the only contribution that Wiese Foundation has made to the culture sector. There are also:
The digitalization of the museum
This initiative has allowed to expand the scope that had been reached before. It has also enabled the Foundation to share digital-educational content with the museum’s public.

VI International Archaeology Colloquium, 100% digital
The pandemic did not stop the scheduled activities. Rather, we looked for a new way of conducting them remotely, through the different communication channels of the Foundation. Thus, this year we held the VI International Archaeology Colloquium, whose central theme was Cultural Heritage and COVID-19, and which, on seven dates, featured 20 speakers and more than one thousand participants.

Entrepreneur Fund Program
This year, we also provided support to social undertakings through the Wiese Foundation Entrepreneur Fund. Among these, we provided support to companies such as Estrafalario, Empanacombi, Pixed and Llama Pack, who received consultancy and support from the Wiese Foundation Entrepreneur Fund.
Furthermore, we achieved strategic alliances with public and private institutions, as well as goodhearted people, in order to attain the altruistic goals of the year.
Educational Credit Program
In spite of the pandemic, the students who benefit from the Educational Credit Program maintained their plans to further their studies and received at all times the professional accompaniment of Wiese Foundation.

All the goals met and the satisfaction of the beneficiaries motivate us to continue with our objectives, and to keep working for a more mutually supportive and equitable country. Happy Anniversary, Wiese Foundation!
