• More than 2,400 vulnerable persons will be served in a new “We are together against Covid-19” aid initiative: the Humanitarian Aid Campaign of 2020.
• The interventions started last Thursday October 22 in the North zone of Metropolitan Lima, and shall extend until the end of the year.
In order to contribute to the wellbeing of the most vulnerable persons, in the face of the impact generated by COVID-19 and of the danger of a second wave of contagion, Wiese Foundation, in alliance with the Cuna Más National Program (PNCM) and the Red Suma Association, has started the execution of a health campaign in some of the districts of Metropolitan Lima most affected by the virus.
Thanks to this joint initiative, 2,403 beneficiaries, belonging to poor and extremely poor families from the North and South zones of Lima shall be attended to by physicians and specialized healthcare technical personnel, who shall provide the services of evaluation and medical consultation and Covid-19 screening tests, as well as the prescription and free delivery of medicines and monitoring tele-consultations for the active positive cases detected.
Furthermore, throughout the campaign, we shall offer advisories to the beneficiary families regarding how to protect oneself from Covid-19 instructions on how to act in the event of a suspicion of contagion, giving them printed educational material on these topics.
For the rollout of the campaign, the PNCM Territorial Unity of Metropolitan Lima made available the community premises where 15 scheduled interventions are currently being conducted, which shall be extended until the month of December of this year. So, too, the mentioned Territorial Unity facilitated the outreach to the management Committees of the districts in focus (Comas, Puente Piedra, Carabayllo, Ventanilla, Lurín and Pachacámac). The Management Committees are the operational units that work at PNCM and are comprised of 5 voluntary members of the community. These grassroots organizations have been key for the identification and convening by shifts of the beneficiaries who are being served within the framework of the campaign.
On the medical side, the Red Suma Association has created the protocols and flows of care required in order to fulfill the objective of the campaign, safeguarding the health of all the participants. It has also selected and allocated the medical, technical and administrative personnel in order to conduct each intervention.
At Wiese Foundation, we shall continue to work in order to provide support and relief to the most vulnerable through the organization and execution of various campaigns that are within the framework of our Humanitarian Aid Program and which are in line with the vision of striving for a country forged by better citizens.
