Fundación Wiese dona medidores de FiO2

Wiese Foundation donates FiO2 gauges that are connected to the Wayrachis

  • Once again, the organization makes an important donation whose objective is to prevent patients with COVID-19 from having to go to Intensive Care Units.

Committed to the fight against COVID-19Wiese Foundation donated 13 FiO2 gauges, a delivery whose purpose is that the healthcare personnel be able to better manage the flow of oxygen received by their patients through the previously donated Wayrachis equipments.

The delivery of these equipments was made during the State of Sanitary Emergency undergone by the country due to COVID-19, a virus that has taken millions of lives around the world; and in response to the direct request from the physicians who have been fighting against this scourge since more than a year and a half.

They (the healthcare personnel) are the true heroes. We feel pleased and satisfied to have contributed to their work. These equipments are in high demand and are being used for saving lives since the first day when they were delivered”, stated Ingrid Claudet, general manager of Wiese Foundation.

FiO2 gauges

FiO2

The 13 equipments donated by the Wiese Foundation are fraction of inspired oxygen (FiO2) gauges, a technology that can indicate the percentage supplied of this vital element to a patient.

That is to say, these equipments will allow to measure exactly what is the fraction, concentration or proportion of oxygen received by a patient.

This technology is used in several countries around the world and is frequently employed for the treatment of persons with COVID-19 who require a high supply of oxygen.

How they work

FiO2 gauges work when connected to the Wayrachis, the high-pressure oxygen regulators that control the air supplied and prevent patients with COVID-19 from having to go to Intensive Care Units.

Once installed, these equipments yield percentage values that are translated into the amount of oxygen that a patient receives, so that the healthcare personnel can monitor, accurately and precisely, the necessary supply of this element.

In order to understand the functioning of the gauge, we could point out, as an example, that when the current volume of a patient is of 500 ml and it comprises 250 ml of oxygen, the FiO2 is of 50%. Another example: if the current volume is of 250 ml and it comprises 250 ml of oxygen, the FiO2 is of 100%.

In this sense, this donation is important because it helps to save lives, as it allows physicians to have a clearer and more precise panorama of the level of oxygen that is supplied to the patients, allowing to lower the high demand for intensive care, and relieving the work of intensivists.

Help throughout the country

The donations of these equipments have extended to various Peruvian hospitals, one of which is María Auxiliadora hospital, in the district of San Juan de Miraflores, in Lima, which showed its gratitude through a video.

These equipments have been of great help to us during the second wave of COVID-19. We thank the Wiese Foundation because they are always attentive to our needs and the help, they give us is really very valuable. God bless them“, thanked Susana Oshiro, director general of María Auxiliadora hospital. Thus, Wiese Foundation shows its commitment in the fight against COVID-19 and its support to the healthcare sector, for the benefit of all Peruvians. Together with the Wayrachis, this contribution for the donation of FiO2 gauges implied an investment of more than S/. 400,000.
