On Thursday, August 08, the «Educational Quality: better school climate, better learning» Program organized the Workshop «Myths, realities and perceptions of adolescents», by Nani Pease, Darío Ugarte and our Director of Educational Projects Liliana “Pelusa” Villanueva. This workshop was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education, Gnosis, Unicef, principals of the schools of the Program and our companions.
The workshop analyzed the social representations and myths around adolescence, how these representations and perceptions affect the interaction with adolescents and how it influences to link with them from this perspective of deficit, conflict, problem. Educational institutions, educational community, mothers and fathers, and society make many decisions from this perspective.
Adolescence involves a series of transitions at the physical, emotional, social, psychological, mental level of growth and brain, and the great task of adolescents is to manage these changes in parallel.
This new view of approaching from the potential and opportunities demands radical changes in professional practice and in the practices of educational institutions, that is, how they are helped to travel in the best way through this stage.
