Throughout its 62 years of institutional life, the Wiese Foundation has contributed actively to the mobilization of people and institutions to transform Peru, promoting sustainable development through its diverse programs and initiatives.
In this line, the Wiese Foundation, through its Educational Quality program and the El Brujo Archaeological Complex’s Investigation and Cultural Management program, has joined forces with the Regional Government of La Libertad to achieve the following Objectives of Sustainable Development:
- Objective 4: Quality education
- Objective 10: Reduction of inqualities
- Objective 17: Alliances to achieve objectives
These strategic alliances, carried out under the agreement between these institutions, strengthen initiatives that the Foundation has been implementing in the education and culture sectors, in synthesis with the Regional Government of La Libertad’s intention of prioritizing development of regional identity.
With regards to education, the project “School and Identity, learning and working together in the region” has been implemented in collaboration with the Regional Government of La Libertad. This has the main objective of contributing to the promotion of positive interpersonal relationships based on respect, equity, and trust among all the members of the educational community in the schools located in the area of influence of the El Brujo Archaeological Complex in Ascope.
The program incentivizes educational quality through improvement of the school climate, with pedagogical mentoring and the development of socioemotional skills in administrators and teachers from the 14 focus schools.
This significantly improves the institutional and classroom atmospheres, favoring the development of better teaching and learning processes for the benefit of the students. Also, learning projects are developed with the students, connected to their local and regional contexts, to generate a feeling of belonging to their community.
Regarding the formation of identity, it is important to point out that, for more than 32 years, in alliance with the Ministry of Culture, the Wiese Foundation has directed the research and cultural management program at the El Brujo Archaeological Complex, focusing on the recovery and diffusion of knowledge about this incomparable cultural space.
Thus, this initiative, which articulates education and identity with self, also works on strengthening regional identity by prompting students and the educational community to comprehend the importance of their commitment to their communities. The Wiese Foundation reaffirms its commitment and the work it is carrying out with the Regional Government of La Libertad for the benefit of the sustainable development of the region and the areas of focus.
