Importancia de la ayuda humanitaria

Importance of humanitarian aid in times of a sanitary crisis

The pandemic caused by COVID-19 has left many families and vulnerable collectives in a crisis. There are people who have lost their jobs, people who have become ill without having resources to cover their medical expenses, families and communities who do not have money to cover the basic food basket. In this context, we must be aware of the importance of humanitarian aid, above all in times of a sanitary crisis.

Wiese Foundation and the donation of Wayrachi devices

Wiese Foundation has participated during 2020 and 2021 with the donation of 100 Wayrachi equipments to EsSalud. The Wayrachi are high-flow oxygen devices whose objective is to avoid the intubation of COVID-19 patients, as well as to delay the need for ICU beds for them, by minutes, hours or days. These devices are produced by 3 engineers in Peru, who replicated them in 2020, when Mercedes Benz and UCL-Ventura University waived the rights to the original designs so they could be replicated by those who wish to.

More than 60 years providing humanitarian aid in Peru

Since its creation, Wiese Foundation has led different campaigns through its Humanitarian Aid Program. Just in 2020 and 2021, the following actions stand out:

  • More than 2,500 COVID-19 screening tests were conducted in 2020.
  • Mechanical ventilators and medical instruments were donated to healthcare personnel (8,125 PPEs and 20,000 N95 facemasks).
  • 485 mattresses were donated for the Peruvian Navy.
  • Medical care and medicines were provided to COVID-19 patients.
  • Tele-consultations were offered for the monitoring of COVID-19 positive cases.
  • In alliance with the Casitas Arcoíris Foundation, we donated 132 groceries baskets (benefitting 5,475 families) and S/100 bonuses to vulnerable families in 12 regions of the country.
  • S/100 bonuses for groceries were offered for families benefiting from the Llama Pack Project in Cusco.

Together with the above, it is important to mention that, in spite of the pandemic, Wiese Foundation continued with the Entrepreneur Fund Program, which allowed us to finance important social undertakings. Likewise, the Educational Credit Program continued to operate and, thanks to it, 123 students from SENATI (National Industrial Work Training Service) were able to continue with their study plans. In the educational aspect, the foundation developed videos to provide socio-emotional support for teachers nationwide and provided personalized accompaniment to 100 teachers and managers from public schools.

Entrepreneur Fund Program,

Wiese Foundation continues to provide support to different projects and initiatives that help to alleviate the load of the sanitary crisis. This is why we have a Solidarity Fund, in which, since the beginning of the pandemic, we have quintupled the usual economic contribution destined to Humanitarian Aid.

Furthermore, in the cultural aspect, we executed the first works-for-taxes project in the culture sector at the El Brujo Archaeological Complex. The purpose of the foundation is to contribute to saving lives, providing support to first-line personnel and providing economic support to the most vulnerable families.
