In 2023, the Wiese Foundation launched the series “Know-hows of my Community”, with the aim of preserving and disseminating the ancestral know-hows of the master artisans of the province of Ascope.
What is “Know-hows of my community” all about?
The Wiese Foundation’s series “Know-hows of my community” seeks to highlight the invaluable work of master artisans and their role in transmitting the knowledge and traditions to the new generations in order to strengthen their sense of belonging to the community and their cultural identity. After the success of the first year, the second season premieres in 2024 with new chapters full of history and cultural legacy. This season includes the participation of outstanding students from the schools of Ascope who are part of the School and Identity project and become mini reporters, guiding us through a journey of learning about the history of each guest artisan.
What will we see in this second season of “Know-hows of my community”?
Each episode of “Know-hows of my community ” is a deep dive into local culture and traditions. From collecting materials to the creation of finished objects, viewers will be able to observe every step of the artisanal process. In this second season, we will explore the work in Spondylus: embroidery and embossing in aluminum, among others.
This series not only celebrates the dexterity of the artisans, but it also facilitates the passing on of their knowledge to younger generations, ensuring that these techniques are kept alive and perpetuated.
