In the context of the sanitary emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Wiese Foundation has arranged and financed an important donation to EsSalud high-flow of oxygen equipments, Wayrachis, which are already being used for saving human lives. This way, a light of hope opens for dozens of patients who are waiting to be cared for with urgency at hospital centers throughout the country.
So far, we have delivered 20 equipments, of a total of 100, which will be used to cover approximately 34% of the total needed of the EsSalud Network. The objective is to contribute to decrease the high load of patients in intensive care, to alleviate the work of intensivists and, most importantly: saving the lives of those affected by the virus.
What is Wayrachi?
The Mercedes Benz firms and UCL-Ventura University from the United Kingdom developed these high-flow oxygen equipments and waived the rights to their design plans in order that these may be replicated throughout the world. In Peru, three brilliant engineers developed the devices with the name Wayrachi. These equipments are characterized by delivering an adjustable high flow of oxygen and use an oxygen supply of up to 4 bars in order to generate flows of up to 140 LPM, with a percentage of oxygen of 30-100%.
Thanks to a nonprofit initiative and thanks to their own contributions and collaborations, they had already manufactured more than 350 Wayrachi oxygen regulators, which were sent to hospitals from the EsSalud Network, Minsa (Ministry of Health) and the Police Hospital.
Wiese Foundation has joined efforts in order to contribute to saving lives and, thus, providing support to our courageous physicians and health personnel who are fighting on the front line against the scourge of the pandemic.
